Founders Message
The Coffee4Kids Foundation was established by a small group of NSW Rural Fire Service members who viewed the RFS as a truly unique organisation that combined inspirational leadership, dedication and commitment of literally thousands of men and women from all walks of life to protecting local communities.
We realised that as a unified and cohesive organisation we had a significant capacity to make a difference to the lives of children through a simple but effective concept of donating the value of a cup of coffee per week to children’s charities. We also realised that the NSW Rural Fire Service was seen by many in the community as a valuable, inspiring and committed organisation that many companies, organisations and individuals would be proud to be associated with in developing their corporate social responsibility ethos.
Thus from a small group of dedicated RFS members with the support of the Service and others, we established the Coffee4Kids Foundation, a charity created to make a real difference to the health, safety and well being of children.
Over time we aim to engage as many brigades and individuals as possible to support the Foundation, as well as seeking other inspiring companies, organisations and individuals to join the RFS in meeting the Foundation’s vision and mission.

What is Coffee4Kids?
Coffee4Kids is a unique fully registered Deductible Gift Recipient Charitable Foundation, combining the simple but powerful act of donating the value of a cup of coffee each week to support the health, safety and wellbeing of children. In meeting our Vision and Mission we aim to partner with inspiring organisations, companies and individuals who are committed to making a difference to the lives of children by participating in our workplace giving program and other fundraising initiatives.
Coffee4Kids is based upon a simple philosophy, allowing any individual to contribute the value of a cup of coffee a week ($5.00 pre-tax) to worthwhile Children's Charities. We operate on the principle that by working together, we can make a difference for children in need. After all, giving up the cost of one cup of coffee a week certainly won't break the bank, but by pulling together as organisations, companies and individuals, our collective capacity to make a real difference is significant.
How was Coffee4Kids established?
Coffee4Kids was established by members of the NSW Rural Fire Service who saw an opportunity for their Service to make a real difference to the lives of children beyond their core role of fighting fires and saving lives. By pulling together the vast resources of the 700 staff and 70,000 Volunteers, the NSW Rural Fire Service saw that they were able to make a significant contribution as leaders in their community, inspire others to do the same.
Why Partner with Coffee4Kids?
Coffee4Kids has the ability to assist inspiring organisations, companies and individuals to promote their corporate social responsibility ethos by supporting any children’s charity that has the appropriate Deductible Gift Recipient approvals of the Australian Taxation Office. We aim to actively seek out charitable organisations that are doing great work and ensure that they are adequately supported, whether they are large institutions or small organisations, providing they are making a real difference to the front line of improving the health, safety and well being of Children.
Where will the money go?
The Foundation has established a range of criteria that it uses in assessing the suitability of children’s charities, including ensuring as much of the donated funds as possible are spent on front line work and real outcomes for children. Whilst the Foundation accepts that all charities have costs and overheads, we are keen to ensure that these are kept to an absolute minimum.
Organisations, companies and individuals who partner with the Coffee4Kids Foundation have the opportunity to support those charities identified by the Foundation as well as recommending to the Foundation any other children’s charities that they would like supported.
Currently our principle beneficiary is The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in Sydney. The Foundation is currently directing funds to the following areas of the Hospital:
• Child Protection Unit
• Adolescent Medicine – Homelessness Unit
• Paediatric Intensive Care Unit
• Oncology Unit
